How to Destroy the Ego
"Thanks for everything! I have no complaints whatsoever :)"
Hi Everyone,
All right guys, today's email i’m going to share with you the one sentence you need to completely destroy the ego.
Here is is:
"Thanks for everything! I have no complaints whatsoever :)”
The entire base of problems in our lives stems from one source: the ego. But what exactly is the ego? Think of it as the incessant voice in your head, constantly labeling, judging, and categorizing every experience. As Eckhart Tolle describes, the ego is a false sense of self that arises from our identification with thoughts and emotions.
The ego thrives on problems. It creates all the suffering and difficulties we experience by labeling things that may not even actually be problems.
This labeling disrupts the natural flow of energy in our lives. Instead of tapping into our deeper connection to creativity and the divine, our minds get bogged down with problem-solving for issues that may not even exist, or for problems that do exist but are not for us to solve.
Have you ever been hyper focused on a problem only to just let it go, and watch as the universe just fixes it swiftly before your eyes? Imagine all the problems you’re trying to actively fix right now, that actually the main reason they are not being fixxed is because you are in the way messing them up repeatedly by trying to intervene.
To illustrate this, imagine a beehive full of angry bees. And you see the beehive and you think: “oh no! The bees, they must be hungry!”
And in your ignorance you conclude, “i must do something, for these poor bees are hungry AND they don’t have a spoon to eat the honey!”
So you rush to get a spoon from your silverware drawer, and run out to the bee hive to feed the bees honey when of course they can quite easily feed themselves.
And what happens? You fumble over the beehive, and it falls to the ground. Now the bees are angry at you, and sting you until you’re as red and puffy as a ripe tomato.
How ridiculous is this image? Yet this is what we do on a daily basis in our lives.
But guess what - the image is even worse. Not only are we constantly trying to spoon feed bees honey, but we spend days, weeks, months and years constantly strategizing plans about how we could do it. We go to therapists and talk endless about the bee honey spoon problem. And our therapist informs us that we may have a bee honey spoon problem that stemmed from our mother wounds.
So then we join a self help group by a person who specializes in mother wounds from bee hive spoon feeding disorder, and we drink toad venom in a forrest in costa rica to rid ourselves of the generational trauma.
You get the point.
What if you just stopped trying to feed bees honey? What if you just said, “you know what that’s not my problem!”
Here's a powerful practice: mentally repeat to yourself, "Thank you for everything, I have no complaints whatsoever." This simple mantra destroys the ego completely. The ego is built on a conceptual identity that has problems. When you embrace gratitude and refuse to acknowledge complaints, the ego has nothing to latch onto. You just exist, and the problems vanish. You drop any sort of plans that you had in terms of feeding the bees… You simply let the bees feed themselves.
When you're able to do this, you free yourself from the grip of the ego and can use your mind for creative endeavors. Whether it's creating music, art, building a business, or fostering more meaningful relationships, your mental energy is better spent on these productive activities.
For example, every morning, part of my meditation practice involves waking up and simply observing my mind. I notice what my mind is endlessly chattering about and just observe it. In this observation, the power of the ego diminishes. You lose your power when you identify with that thinking mind instead of just being present.
