Unlock Freedom in the Flow of Life

True Freedom is not in Control, but in Surrendering Control

Hey! Hoping you have been enjoying the 8AM album… I’ll be hosting a release party soon… stay tuned…

And before you read today’s email, I invite you into the 8AM store here. Passwords to the site will be given to anyone who shares the 8AM Album through social media either through story posts, or through tik toks and reels. And if you end up purchasing something please share photos with me on instagram @arlin - I’d love to see what you pick up. As always, I’m incredibly grateful for your support as it allows me to pursue future projects like the 8AM album, events, and more.

So as you may be aware, I’ve been reflecting on the idea of letting life unfold naturally, and it strikes me how often we fool ourselves into thinking we have control.

The reality is, we don’t.

I used to think we had total control of our reality if we just practiced your standard law of attraction principles - but that’s just not the case. And fortunately so, in my opinion.

Life, in fact, moves on its own with or without our interference, and our attempts to control it—whether it’s hoping the weather cooperates with our plans or trying to anticipate or control someone else’s actions—are just ways we comfort ourselves against the uncertainty that surrounds us.

It’s like driving and constantly checking the traffic lights, as if our worry could somehow change whether the light turns red or green. But no amount of thinking or stressing will ever alter the reality outside of us. I’m coming to terms with this.

We expend so much energy on this illusion of control, when in truth, things will happen as they happen. The grass of life will grow where it’s meant to grow and the rain of life will fall whether we like it or not.

This brings me to a key point in my own spiritual growth: recognizing the futility of trying to control the external world. The more we invest in trying to manipulate life to fit our expectations, the more drained and frustrated we become. Instead, what if we focused on preparing ourselves to handle whatever comes our way? By doing so, we free up an incredible amount of time and energy that we’ve been wasting on trying to control the uncontrollable.

And what unfolds in this newfound time has continuously baffled me as of recent… For example, in the last 6 months having removed a ton of ‘control’ around trying to force my business to make money, I’ve attracted people into my life that are helping me grow the business on a much larger scale from much more solid foundations than when I was trying to control everything myself.

I’ve also noticed that in all the time i’ve tried to control my perception online, rather than just letting loose, I can make much more free flowing content - this is how I used to make content back in the day when I was growing at my fastest - and it just comes much more naturally now… now that i’m not hyper focusing on how the content will be perceived - it’s like I’ve ‘removed the breaks’ and began again allowing whatever comes up to come up and go out.

So, I believe the essence of spirituality lies in this understanding. It’s not about molding the world to our liking but about finding our position in it as it naturally unfolds - and letting what comes up or comes to us to pass through us.

This brings us to the concept of ‘doership’—that is, if we are so surrendered, what is our role as a doer? Our main role is not in changing the outside world, but in managing our inner responses to it. That’s all we need to ‘do’ really.

So - surrendering is not about inaction or apathy—it’s about engaging with life from a place of acceptance rather than resistance. It’s about recognizing that our real work is within, not in trying to manipulate the world around us.

When we do this, life has a way of surprising us, of providing exactly what’s needed in ways we couldn’t have planned.

So, the next time life throws something unexpected or bothersome your way, see if you can approach it with a sense of curiosity rather than control. Let it unfold, and pay attention to how your energy shifts (without judgment) when you stop trying to make things be a certain way.

You might find, as I have, that this is where true freedom and the excitement of life lies.

Life is much more fun when you anticipate exciting events unfolding from the unknown - than when you think you have total control over your reality and can thus tell the future- only to be disappointed when it doesn’t unfold exactly according to your plan.

From the unknown,

Arlin
