how dark days help reveal light...
Typically, as many of you know, I meditate first thing in the morning. The first hour of my day is consumed with just meditation practices, warming up the body and tapping into God.
And then, I go and get a coffee of sorts. Yesterday was quite nice because I wrote the email from the roof of the Edition Hotel in WeHo and had an absolutely delicious Americano—hot, black La Columbe coffee.
There's rly nothing like hotel coffee.
Right now, I'm sitting at my place in the Hills and sipping an espresso with some blueberries and as it's Halloween season, a little dark chocolate wafer to dip into my coffee.
A bird just flew by as I typed that. It's sunny in California. I'm totally zen and tapped in. And I'm excited to talk about the subject for today.
It's pretty funny that yesterday I ended off the email by explaining how sucky yesterday was, but yet that typically it’s dark sucky days that helps reveal light... And then I spoke about how I ended the day by using my 8AM app to get clear again on my vision, & then listen to the audio recording of the vision that I have for my life….
And lo and behold, after sending out that email - the day I had following that practice was just amazing. It was one of the best days I've had in a really long time as far as the clarity, the breakthroughs, the overall just sense of exhilaration and excitement I had.
And I wanted to tell you about it!
So first off, you know already I was at the Edition roof and it was just… I just can't recommend enough going to hotels instead of cafes to have a morning coffee and just think and be in the energy that you're kind of on vacation in a boujee environment.
Hotels smell nice. They treat you 100% better than at a cafe. It's just so nice.
Afterward my morning coffee, & in between leaving the Edition and going over to my car to get to the gym, I had a couple calls with friends who basically gave me some good news.
Then I went into the West Hollywood Equinox and had a really great workout. Great sweat, a very solid lift & good stretch at the end. It was one of those days where it just felt like my lucky day. I had even gotten one of maybe 3 parking spots right out front on Sunset Boulevard as well, as opposed to having to go into the parking garage. Isn’t that the best?
So after my workout, I hopped in the car and drove to my friend Casin’s house who lives up in the hills. I've known Casin for years. We actually used to be roommates back in Boston. And so it was almost like old times just working alongside each other. And it's always amazing to see your friends doing well over the course of the time that you are friends with them.
As soon as I got to Casin’s house, I had a gmeet meeting with a new team member on 8AM. We were discussing our content rollout, the 8AM brand and essentially our upcoming mass propaganda campaign, which I'm very excited about.
It's really the second time I've done a mass propaganda campaign, but this time, the firepower I have and the knowledge I have from the last time is just a different level. So I look forward to really indoctrinating you (lol!), and what I hope to be millions and millions of people, into the 8AM way of living.
Now, one of the bigger breakthroughs I had yesterday was in officially choosing the path of rebranding Maxi into the 8AM app.
If you’re a long time follower, you’ll maybe be puzzled by this - so why?
Well, one thing I've learned from a lot of my friends who are very successful is that simplicity scales. And if you want to have a big impact, it needs to be really clear who you are and what you do. People need to—with all the information that is scattered across the internet—they need to be able to look you up and figure out who you are real quickly.
And with Maxi, yes Maxi was a great name, but it was just a little bit too confusing at this stage to have Maxi and 8AM sort of competing, especially in the propaganda.
And so my team and I discussed, you know, what is Maxi? Well, simply it's an app that I use every day at 8AM (and every evening). It helps me organize my day, my life, get me clear, and it's just the best way to start your day, right at 8 in the morning.
That's it. It's very simple.
Maxi was like -”the personal assistant for your mind” which is cool, but not as simple as just - “app I use every morning at 8:00am to stay clear, clean and organized.”
Now, 8AM as a brand name, of course, has deeper meanings. The reason for the number 8, of course, ties to 8 as the number of abundance. It has lore too - I started my journey in 2016 uploading videos everyday at 8:00am…
Also - I always looked at my brand as something where if you shift your perspective in life, you can see more possibilities, more dimensions even... And of course, when you rotate an the number 8 90 degrees, or when YOU shift your head 90 degrees… you get exactly that—infinity ♾️
I had been in a bundle of confusion for a while about this maxi vs 8AM conundrum, but all of a sudden, I realized that “the 8AM app” is the way.
And so that clarity was very exciting.
I welcome you to check out the 8AM app at 8amapp.com.
Now, after that, I had a couple of really exciting phone calls with my friend Phantom, who I mentioned indirectly recently in an email, and another one—a catchup call with my friend Hunter Isaacson, who's just a brilliant app founder whose success has been absolutely mind blowing, especially in the last six months with his Bags app, and what he has planned for the future.
Hunter also told me he just bought one of those robots that does your house chores.
It's funny, because we had done a podcast, Hunter and I, a few months ago, on a plane. We were shooting it in first class in a Delta One seat 30,000 ft in the sky, talking about how robots are going to do our chores for us. In the comment section of that podcast, a lot of people were saying we were crazy, but lo and behold, six months later, because the rate of technology is increasing so fast, consumer robots that can do your chores are now available, and Hunter just bought one. 😆
After my catchup with hunter, I got a little bit more work done, said bye to Casin - and then I took a drive over to the 1 Hotel to finish up some afternoon work. Great place to work, by the way. Two hotels in one day. What a day.
After my 1 Hotel work session, I drove over to meet Chloe for dinner in celebration of what a good day it was. We went to a place called Horses in West Hollywood. Delicious.
Went home, did my evening 8AM app session, meditated, and knocked out.
One last point here - Throughout the day, I had been listening to some really great podcasts about Bitcoin as I was driving around. There's a lot of driving in LA, of course and I typically fill that time listening to audiobooks or in today’s case a podcast about Bitcoin.
I love the the topic of retiring off Bitcoin. I'm at that point—I have enough where in the next five years, and it's not that much right now, but in the next five years with the rate of improvement, I really will be able to retire off Bitcoin, which is pretty crazy.
So I'd recommend looking into how to retire off Bitcoin, because you really don't need that much - at current prices its like $100k usd to retire. Bitcoin is a topic I'd love to talk a lot more about because it's something I've researched heavily and I'm a big believer in.
Anyway, I think that's enough for today's email. I hope you enjoyed reading it. If you did, please reach out to me on Instagram. I love seeing how these emails are improving your day.
And I also encourage you to please listen to my new song on Spotify or Apple Music, The Sages of Old. I can link it here.
And I'll finish off by just sharing the beauty of that concept that when you have bad days, they can really help you have good days. You know, darkness—the more darkness you experience, the more light you're capable of holding.
See you in the next email.
