I've been reflecting on this a lot lately, and I know that when a thought keeps entering my mind, there's something to it. If something keeps popping up, there's a reason.

This is why I largely stopped taking notes whenever I get a good idea.

I believe that the best ideas are sort of just sitting there in the aether or spiritual realm. And if they're really meant for you, you're not going to forget them. They’ll keep popping up in your consciousness.

The thought that has been popping into my mind over and over is this: tech founders, artists, really the visionary founder of any company, is a modern day prophet.

As a founder, artist, creative, you are literally tapping into the spiritual realm and bringing into the physical realm a vision of something that doesn't yet exist. And then you go and gather followers, believers in your vision, and you share that creation of your vision with the world. And you try to make your creation uplift and improve the lives of many different people.

So… really… How different are you from Moses?

Your vision can even be something as seemingly mundane as, let's say, someone building an air conditioning company or saas finance tooling or even an iOS app for consumers. And it can range into perhaps more ethereal feeling creations such as obviously a music artist who's trying to make people move and dance and have a spiritual experience listening to the music.

Whatever you’re working on, if you’re a founder, you’re bringing a vision and message from God into the world.

You’re (basically) a prophet.

The Importance of Alignment for Founders

So I think it's really important for founders to make sure that they're in alignment with the highest energy that there is in the spiritual realm. Because we all know this… there's good energy out there, and there's dark energy.

I know from experiences in times in my life where maybe I was more fueled and focused by darker, heavier, denser energy, the things that I was creating were actually really not good for the world in the way that maybe they could have been otherwise if I had been focused on the highest level channel, or in other words, God.

God just represents the highest frequency energy of the highest good and love for all.

Darker forces, on the other hand, might serve only you.

For example, there was a time in my life where I was really focused on fulfilling some personal desires, on living a certain lifestyle, and I basically wanted to achieve my dreams by whatever means necessary. And I ended up making a product called Tribe Accelerator that in retrospect, when I looked at some of the modules, they had kind of a more status-focused mindset.

And now of course, I don’t think telling people to be obsessed with their status is Godly. I think status focus is actually very low level, dark.

Since I've realized this, I actually went back and edited the Tribe Accelerator course to take out anything that was influenced by more of a darker energy so that the whole program is aligned to pure goodness.

When I first started my entrepreneurial journey, I think I had extremely pure and God-aligned intentions. I was making YouTube videos out of my dorm room at Boston University with a mission to help free young men from the egoic traps of the mind and negative thinking patterns and to help them learn how to cure their anxiety and depression - because that's what I went through when I was in high school and I felt I had the map.

Aligning myself to a mode of serving others as my core mission, I know that everything that I was doing back then was imbued with light and love and goodness.

In my current ventures, for example, my 8AM World Uluwatu experience I’m putting together - I make sure that everything from top to bottom is as spiritually in tune to spreading good as much as I possibly can.

The Greater the Light, the Greater the Temptation

I've also noticed that the more that you try to align yourself to doing good… the more darkness tries to catch you. They say that God's favorite is also the devil's favorite, right? It seems like the more I attempt to align myself to good, the more easily, I suppose, the temptations of going into perhaps easier ways of making money in business, or less noble paths, present themselves.

And anyone in business creating a company will relate to this – there's always quick cash opportunities. As you gain success, there's always more and more ways to dilute the brand and vision and mission of your company in order to make some fast money. And those temptations can be very alluring.

So I really like the way that the Bible says to basically shield yourself with the armor of God. But what does that even mean or look like in practice?

The Daily Sandwich

I did a podcast recently where I was talking about this concept with a couple of friends who were also in a similar vein of thinking, and we talked about this concept of “the daily sandwich”. Credit to my friend Colin Yurcisin for this concept.

You begin your day in prayer, meditation, and reading scripture. Then, you go throughout your work day focused but with multiple quick internal briefings checking in with your mission, and the peace in your… as one might say – to be in the world, but not of the world. Always having a little bit of awareness and attention in the peace of your own soul and not getting lost in your phone or in your work or in the world too much, just always holding on to a sense of that peace in your soul.

And then at the end of the day, you have another prayer, meditation, and scripture reading session before falling asleep.

If you have this kind of sandwich, it's easier as a visionary founder, creative type person to ensure that whatever it is you're creating is imbued with the highest possible frequencies and the highest possible energy.
